Snow days and the Trailer Park Boys

The first big snow of the year! I missed two days of work at the animation studio (I dread the pile of scenes I'm going to have waiting for me to check tomorrow...)

It did allow me time to finish off another episode of "Feedbak". The publisher of The Buzz gave me a full page to work with this time! Charolettetown is hosting the 2006 ECMA's (East Coast Music Awards) this coming February. The Oscars get Billy Crystal as a host, we get The Trailer Park Boys! I also managed to stick in a cameo by wild man guitarist Matt Anderson who impressed the shit out of me at Contact East back in October.

Chiaroscuro

Odds are that if you are checking out the Blog here you are familiar with my comic series Chiaroscuro. If not, check it out at www.meanwhilestudios.com. The site has been under reconstruction and hasn't been updated in some time, but there's still lots there.

So it's about time for an update! Due to circumstances beyond my control, the last issue to arrive in comic shops was #7 back in May 2003. It's been my intention to collect the work into a graphic novel format at issue #10.

I've been working on the book as much as possible in the past few years and I'm happy to say I recently finished drawing the last page of what will be "Book 1".

Due to changes in the comic book industry I've decided to cease the publication of individual issue and focus on publishing the series as graphic novels. So hang on to those issues folks, they'll be collectors items.

I'm also pleased to announce that I've been awarded a grant from the P.E.I. Council of the Arts to help in the production and promotion of the book! Looks like 2006 is going to be a very busy year for me!

The, uh... Drawing Board.

This is where the magic happens. If you squint you can make out pages from Chiaroscuro #8, finished and in progress.

Where am I?

Canada's smallest provence and the Birthplace of Confederation in 1867. Famous for it's potatoes and "Anne of Green Gables". I was born in Summerside, the second largest "City", with a population of about 14,000. It's a strange little place. I took this photo on Water St. last summer. That's right. "Meat Bingo."

Feedbak

I do a monthly comic strip in the music section of "The Buzz", P.E.I.'s arts & entertainment newspaper which is likely not seen by many people outside the confines of the island. We refer to you people as being from "Away". So here's a few episodes from Feedbak.

In the Beginning...

Welcome to the Blog.

You've probably noticed that my home page www.meanwhilestudios.com hasn't been updated in quite some time. A new web site is being designed and should make an appearance at some point early next year. Until then you can peek at what's going on here in The Drawing Room and get a pretty good sense of what's up, as well as all kinds of neat stuff.
